NRMS Wrestling kicked off the 2026 season with a strong performance at Wilmington’s invitational on January 3. Twenty-three teams competed with the NR Lions finishing as runners-up, scoring an impressive 175.5 points. Reading took first place with 208.5 points, and Hillsboro and Little Miami tied for third with 140 points each.

Top finishers for New Richmond included sixth- and fifth-place results from Kinlee Faubion (7th grade) and Gianni Pardini (8th grade). Fourth-place finishes were earned by Gavin Waldman (8th), Grant Barbro (8th), and Carter Ream (8th), while Emmett Boswell (8th) placed third. Jayden Prince (8th) finished second, and the Lions’ top finisher of the day was seventh-grader Blayton Fischer, who, in his debut year of wrestling, earned his first career first-place finish.

The Lions middle school wrestlers and their coaching staff—head coach Will Lytle, assistant coach Mike Ream, and girls assistant coach Mia Smith—are excited about how the season is starting to come together.
